     Allison comes in the reception room.

AM:  Mother.
CM:  Oh, Allison.  I tried to call you.
AM:  How is Mr. Carson?
CM:  They're still operating.
AM:  Will he be all right?
CM:  I don't know.
AM:  So awful.  He has had so much pain and suffering.  And now this.
MS:  It might be quite a while.
AM:  I want to stay.
CM:  Allison.
AM:  Mother, he has nobody.  He has always been so alone.  He should not 
     be alone, now.  Isn't that why you are here? 
CM:  Yes.
AM:  Then that is why I want to stay, too.
